Xiamen tourism revenue tops in Fujian during golden week |

| Xiamen tourism revenue during the eight-day National Day holiday, or Golden Week, hit RMB 860 million, taking the first spot in Fujian province, according to the Fujian provincial tourism bureau. Fujian received 6.72 million tourists during the golden week, a growth of 25% over last year, the bureau says. Xiamen received 854,700 tourists during the holiday, with a total tourism revenue of RMB 860 million. Fuzhou received 880,800 tourists, fiberglass mesh an increase of 33.45 percent. The Fuzhou-Wenzhou high-speed railway, which opened to traffic on Sept. 28, became a main artery for tourists from the Yangtze River Delta region during the holiday. The EMU (Electric Multiple Unit) trains running on the railway carried 72,500 passengers during the eight-day holiday. In addition, tours to rural areas were in vogue during the golden week. Large crowds of people were attracted to Tong’an Zhuba Farm, fiberglass screen which received over 10,000 visitors everyday, an increase of 40 percent. The bureau also mentioned that most scenic spots in the province had offered a 20% discount on their entrance fees during the golden week. |
