| On the evening of March 23 Yuan Longping, father of hybrid rice, is a French medal in recognition of its achievements in research on stainless steel shaft pin hybrid rice. The French Ambassador to China Herve Ladsous, received the highest grade of Georgia Meritorious Medal to Yuan by the French government. This is the highest honor from the French government at a Chinese linear ball bushing agronomist. Georgia Meritorious Medal was established in 1883 by former French Minister of Agriculture Jules MELINE identify those who have contributed significantly to French agriculture, including foreigners, who make significant contributions to their homeland. This is the 20th among national and international medals Academician Yuan to win today. After Ladsous, the French government has received the medal in recognition of the role of yuan in research and development of hybrid rice and hybrid rice contribution made to global security kernels. It was found that a region has planted 15 million hectares of hybrid rice annually, with 7.2 tonnes per hectare on average about 20% higher yield per hectare of rice together. Hybrid rice yield apparently exerted increasing influence in China and other countries. In 2009, the planting area of hybrid rice in the country amounts to about 3 million hectares, the yield per hectare has increased from two tonnes. |
