After purchasing a new IPAD May, I quickly realized that the days of carrying around my laptop had ended. I no longer bears the weight and volume of a Macbook Pro 5.5 pounds – the future was slim, lightweight and … lack any kind of memory slot or port connectivity. Doh!
At first, for my commute, I was satisfied with the IPAD storage in my bag or backpack Arc’teryx usual. But these bags, which easily could hold iPads half dozen or more – we had to reduce the size of my bag as I did with my laptop.
So the other day I visited a popular bag shop and picked up a shoulder bag Freestyle Porter.
The bag is made of high density material has been processed with a polyurethane film. This creates a weather-resistant exterior that is similar to leather in a sense, however, is lightweight and requires very little maintenance.
Basically, for my use, the bag is big enough to store one in a case SwitchEasy IPAD Naked, Micro Four Thirds camera and the regular items such as wallets and iPhone. Because they tend to overpack, I made sure to find something that would only have the essentials, what compels me to always travel light.
The bag has three zippered compartments, each with several sub-compartments, which are easily accessible when the bag is being used. I learned from the property of other bags without access capacity is very annoying, I always seem to be coming to my gadgets, money and other things almost compulsively!
In conclusion, I am quite satisfied with this shoulder bag Porter Freestyle. Although the color was not my first choice, brown finish contrasts with metal zippers. In general, the stock seems conservative style with its square appearance to convey a sense of purpose.
On the practical side, the main compartment not only store my IPAD, but also allows quick access to the camera – important for ex-street shots. The other sources are also well designed and help organize my growing collection of small appliances and personal items.
Porter has long been one of the more popular bag brands among Japanese male. Although their products are not as widely available outside of Japan, you can search through its catalog of products here and maybe find an online distributor internationally.
Here is a photo of Porter Shoulder Bag Freestyle taken with my phone. The dimensions of the bag just fit the IPAD, but there is a large perimeter to hold the GH1 Panasonic camera with additional lenses as well.
